Mission
"To work with small, low-key projects in Gujarat and help out in simple, effective ways."
This might sound obvious, but simply finding these small operations can be difficult. They are often only known to locals. See Our Way.
History
In Autumn 2006, floods washed through Surat. The news of floods in Western Indian has unfortunately become commonplace, but at the time, the sight of seeing so many familiar places under water motivated a desire to do something.
An email went out to friends and family; a fundraiser was organised and a total of £675 was raised.
That winter we visited Surat and made donations to various charities. Our first donation involved replacing toys which had been washed away at Surat's main orphanage.
Over the course of the following months we developed a way of working, which ensured that all money donated went directly to the people who most needed it. We have worked in two other Gujarat towns - Sachin and Baroda (now Vadodara).
